Checking Your Internet Connection For Live Streaming

These days, there are very few places that you can go and get away from the internet. Mobile phones are constantly improving, data connections are getting faster. Everything is becoming more reliable. Because of this, we offer a Stream it Yourself service. This allows you to stream a wedding service yourself, using just your smartphone, through the same enterprise-grade server that we use ourselves.

The setup and process for this is incredibly simple and we have professionals on hand to guide you through and ensure everything is working. We can test the stream for you and will remain on hand throughout to ensure everything goes according to plan.

One thing that is very important to check beforehand is the internet connection at the venue.

There are a variety of ways to do this, such as Ofcom’s mobile coverage checker, or signalchecker.co.uk. If you are considering streaming yourself, I would highly recommend looking on these pages to see what the connection will be like for you.

One tip is to check Ofcom’s map as well (underneath the tick boxes on their site, after entering a postcode) as, especially when there are old buildings with thick walls or metal roofs, there can be spots of poor or no signal, even when generally the area is very good!

We conduct the same checks whenever we are streaming. Whilst the professional equipment we use can connect to up to six different networks at once for added reliability, we like to ensure that we can be prepared for, and find a solution for, areas that may not have the best data connection.

If you have any concerns about the connection then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can find a solution that works for you, including a manned broadcast service, using a broadcast quality camera and the same professional mobile bonding technology used by news stations like the BBC and Sky.
